Rhynchostylis native to the Indian Subcontinent, China, Indochina, Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines.Rhynchostylis is one of the Orchid family, consisting of 3 currently species.

blooms in January to February.

Blooming in Summer and Fall.

Flowering is usually summer into fall

Medicinally Rhynchostylis retusa is used to treat wounds, cuts and bruises. Due to bio-piracy, the plant is in the verge of extinction in India. Rhynchostylis retusa is recognized as the state flower of Arunachal Pradesh and Assam.

Rhynchostylis  prefers the warm humid climate of Southeast Asia.Although this is indeed a warm-growing orchid, it is tolerant of a wider range of light conditions other than Vandaceous orchids. it can grow lesser light condition than that of vandas and ascocendas. Unlike Vanda species, they need indirect light.possible to grow under lower light like a Phalaenopsis. The leaves will be a dark green but it does not seem to diminish flower production.
Despite being in the Vanda Tribe, they are very different from Vandas. It is They grow more slowly, their roots are more fragile, and almost any direct sun will harm them. However, they are typically grown with no potting mix on slat baskets or mounted just like Vandas.
